KNBC newscasts sweep LA Emmys

KNBC-TV swept top newscast categories at the 63rd annual Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, held Saturday at the TV Academy's Leonard Goldenson Theater in North Hollywood.KNBC took home the trophies in the morning, evening and late newscast heats for its 6 a.m., 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcasts, respectively. The Peacock's West Coast flagship also led all stations in total wins with 13. KTLA-TV followed with six nods, while KABC and KCBS nabbed four apiece.KNBC's winners included Mary Harris for news writer and Bruce Hensel for news feature reporting. Los Angeles Times columnist Steve Lopez won the non-news writing category for his work on KCET's "SoCal Connected."KTLA's haul included the news director trophy for Bryan Hileman. KABC reporter David Ono won for hard news reporting. KCBS took investigative reporting honors for its segment about staffers drinking on the job at the Department of Water and Power.Longtime KTTV anchor Christine Devine was feted with the Governors Award for her work on the "Wednesday's Child" news segment that aims to help find homes for children and teens in L.A.
